How to Get Started Improving Your Organisation’s Performance


Many organisations have benefited from significant improvements in performance by implementing the Lean Principles, Tools and Techniques.

79% of attendees at the Lean Awareness Workshop held recently at the Wales Quality Centre said they would be interested in attending a formal course to learn how to use Lean Tools and Techniques.

We are now able to offer a course which combines theory and practical hands-on learning. The benefits of the course are further enhanced by participation in an in-company project which will help organisations to make a start on business improvements.

Who is the course aimed at?
This course is suitable for Service and Manufacturing organisations.

Who should attend?
The course is suitable for a wide range of delegates - Senior Managers, Team and Office Managers, Performance Improvement Specialists and anyone who wants to develop their knowledge of Lean Techniques and understand how to implement them.

Lean Principles have been applied with great success in all types and sizes of organisation. This session aims to provide attendees with an awareness of Lean, its Key Principles and the main Tools and Techniques which have been used with great success within the Public and Private Sector

The session will be delivered by Kevin Bennett who, with other Approved Wales Quality Centre Associates, will be on hand to answer all your questions and queries both during and after the session.

Course structure: 3-day programme over 2-3 months

Day 1: 14th December 2006: Full day workshop at QED Centre: An interactive workshop that explores the range of tools and techniques involved in lean thinking. This is the opportunity to identify the most appropriate tools for your organization to implement. The course facilitators will advise individual delegates on best practice.

Day 2: Date arranged with individual delegates: ½ day support: This is a half day of consultancy support, provided at the delegate’s place of work. The purpose is to assist in the implementation of one or more of the tools and techniques identified during Day 1 of the programme. It is anticipated that delegates will, as a minimum, be able to run a pilot scheme to test the viability of the chosen tools/techniques.

Day 3: 16th January 2007: Full day workshop at QED Centre: Feedback and interactive workshop, delegates have the opportunity to describe the progress to date and design the next phase of their lean implementation programme.

Day 4: Date arranged with individual delegates: ½ day support: The second half day of consultancy support provided at the delegates place of work. This is to review the onsite progress of the pilot and establish an implementation plan to take the programme forward.
